Family Health Training Institute (FHTI)
In 2008 FHOK established a training institute with a strong focus on Reproductive Health and Youth Friendly Services. The institute is located at FHOK headquarters in Nairobi, at Family Health Plaza, Mai Mahiu Road, off Mbagathi/Langata Roads Junction. The institute is linked to a network of FHOK facilities in Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Thika, Nyeri, Mombasa and Nairobi, that can provide technical supervision and practical experience.
The Reproductive Health Courses are offered in collaboration with the Division of Reproductive in the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, using the approved Ministry of Health curriculum. Course work is undertaken at FHOK Training institute while practicals will be done at the trainee’s nearest approved site.
In 2010, the institute will offer the following courses at the institute in Nairobi and at client/organization level in regions.
Graduants of Contraceptive Technology Course

- Peer Counseling
- Youth Friendly Services
- Youth, Gender, Sexuality and Rights
Graduants of Contraceptive Technology Course
The courses are aimed at equipping participants with knowledge and skills in Reproductive Health, service provision and facilitation skills. Group trainings can be organized and conducted at FHOK regional centres in Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Thika, Meru Nyeri and Mombasa, where there are enough participants per course. Application is made with a non-refundable fee of Ksh 500.
