Intergrating HIV Prevention and Positive Prevention for Women & Men in Nakuru district

Project Goal: To reduce the incidence of HIV infection and SRH ill health in men and women of Reproductive age (15-49 years) in Kenya.

Project summary: Working with people living with HIV and engaging as peer educators and in advocacy figures and social mobilization

agents. HIV positive women and men are fully engaged in the decision making and implementation processes through out the project life cycle. This intervention aims to improve the Sexual and Reproductive Health status and quality of life for young women and men infected and affected by HIV / AIDS.

 

Intervention

The project increases access to and utilization of HIV prevention and positive prevention services and opportunity for behaviour change. Information, training, access to treatment, care and support are promoted not only to the target group but also their partners and health care providers. Prevention efforts also focus on individuals living with HIV, their partners and families including those who influence or restrict the behavior, options and choices of HIV positive people.
In this intervention FHOK work closely with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation for supply of antiretroviral drugs, HIV test kits and drugs for treatment of opportunistic infections.
