Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH)

Family Health Options Kenya (FHOK) provides Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services through its eight clinics (known as Familycare Medical Centres) and community based sites. FHOK has increased its range of services from vertical family planning to Integrated Sexual Reproductive Health such as Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Maternity, Papsmear tests, Laboratory investigations, Pharmacy, Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) for HIV/AIDS, Outpatient treatment and referral. In the provision of these services, the rights and choices of the clients are paramount.

The following Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services are available in our Familycare Medical Centres.

    2. Injectables
    3. Implants (Jadelle, Implanon)
    4. Vasectomy and Bilateral Tubal Ligation (BTL)
    5. Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD)
    6. Foaming Tablets
    7. Barrier (Male and Female Condom)
  • Papsmear for screening cancer of the cervix
  • Safe motherhood Services (ANC, Maternity Services, PNC, Post Partum FP)
  • Child Health Services (Immunization, Growth Monitering)
  • Emergency contraception
  • Unwanted/Teenage Pregnancies counseling
  • Post Abortion Care (PAV) and Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA)
  • Management of Infertility

Well Women Initiative

Introduction

FHOK has been a pioneer in reproductive health in Kenya and continues to offer a wide range of integrated sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS services and mainly targeting young people and also reaching out to the larger public.
In a bid to increase access to reproductive health services and promotive rather than curative reproductive health services, FHOK has initiated a well woman clinic targeting women and offering a range of services aimed at increasing awareness of individual reproductive health as well as the general well being. This is termed the Well woman initiative.

What does the well Woman Initiative involve?

The well woman clinic targets women with a number of services at subsidized annual fee of Kshs. 2000. During the membership year, the member client is entitled to a range of services stipulated in the well woman package. These are;

  1. One Pap smear test for cervical cancer/ infection screening
  2. Four Breast examinations (Quarterly exams)
  3. Monthly Weight and Blood pressure checks
  4. One Blood sugar test annually
  5. Free consultation during time of visit
  6. Access to health information requested and updates on reproductive health issues e.g. menopause, family planning updates, etc.
  7. Invitation to health talks and other events held by the organization.
  8. Linkage and referral for treatment of complicated cases not offered under the well woman package.

    The membership is renewed annually. Members can also access other services available but not stipulated in the well woman package but at a separate cost.

     

    Where does one access services?

    Any FamilyCare Medical Centre, Nairobi and Mombasa Youth Counselling Centres.

    Who can enroll the Well Woman Initiative Package?

    All Women in Reproductive ages (15- 49 Years.)
    Annual Membership Fee: Adolescents and young girls Women beyond the reproductive age (50 years and above) Kshs. 2000 per individual client per year.
    A membership card is issued once a client enrolls for the initiative
