Background Information

The Mombasa Youth center and clinic is an integrated facility offering comprehensive services which are also youth friendly to the youth of Mombasa. The target populations are young people who are between the ages of 10-24 years. Mombasa Youth Centre is located on Fimbo Footwear Building    2nd floor, along Digo Road; Opposite Stanbic Bank. The centre was officially opened in 1990, aimed at reducing ASRH incidents amongst young people and empowering them to make responsible   choices in life.

The activities carried and services offered are:

  1. Peer education in and out of school programme
  2. Clinical services
  3. Library services
  4. Cyber services
  5. Magnetic theater
  6. VCT services
  7. Salon and Barber Services.
  8. Conference facilities.
  9. Community Outreaches
  10. Recreational Activities

The center is currently being supported by FHI through the APHIA II Coast project, UNFPA through Mtwapa Kilifi (D.I.C) and IPPF through the Youth and Clinic at the main centre. The centre serves   the entire Mombasa county which includes; Mvita Island, Kisauni, Likoni and Changamwe   constituencies and Mtwapa under Kilifi County. Mombasa Youth Centre runs a number of projects at satellite centres which are hosted by partners and supported by friends of the centre from    Kuwait and United Kingdom dubbed;

1.Tausi Imara Vocational Training – a school of designing and tailoring meant to support the less fortune ladies in vocational training supported by friends from Kuwait under the (K4K) Loyac Program.

2.Kisauni Satellite Centre – one of the satellite resource centres offering YFS services and information hosted by Kwacha Afrika and supported by FHI- APHIA II Youth Project.

3.Likoni Satellite Centre – one of the satellite resource centre located in Likoni along Shelly beach road hosted by Likoni Community Development Program (LICODEP).

4.Tuonane Satellite Centre – one of the satellite resource centre located in Old town hosted by Reach Out trust Program which focuses on youth and Drug Issues to reduce the use of drugs and substance abuse.

5.Mtwapa Drop in Centre – one of the resource centres located in Mtwapa along Malindi –    Kilifi high way supported by UNFPA program.
